Bellmont High School class creates “Koda the K9” to benefit Decatur Police Department
DECATUR, Ind. (WPTA) – Brian Lineberry’s business class created “Kozy Koda,” an organization whose proceeds go toward helping their favorite school celebrity: Koda the K9.
Lineberry has taught at Bellmont High School for 14 years.
“I worked at a summer camp, a scout camp, for a very long time,” he said. “I still do a lot of that nowadays, and that’s kind of where I realized I enjoy working, working with kids.”
History is normally Lineberry’s cup of tea, but this year he’s taken on a new challenge: teaching economics.
“This is an introductory business class,” he said. “This is to get them excited about business, to see if this is something that they would want to do as a career, and I thought, ‘Okay, well, we could sit around and talk about sales and marketing and branding, or we could, we could do it.’”
This isn’t just any business; it’s a way for Lineberry and his students to help people they’re passionate about: the Decatur Police Department.
“They liked this idea,” Lineberry said. “They liked the idea of supporting Koda, our school K9.”
Each student was assigned a specific role, and they chose a CEO.
